NEW ZEALAND LICENSE PLATES

Question:

New Zealand license plates were issued from 1925 on with unique properties: e.g the color and center “divider” location and style.  BUT

The 1935/36 issue and the 1951-56 issue each have that divider.  The 35/36 is white on a bronze-green background, while the 51-56 base plate is white on black. Both have the same bolt hole pattern, and I can discern no differences between them. So, that begs the question:  If I have a RUSTY NZ plate (no trace of original colors) with the comma divider at the bottom, what year is it?

Are there any other unique properties with which the two can be identified?

If you know the answer to this, PLEASE contact me at Ghost Town USA

Thanks

Gary
