No funeral services are scheduled for Agnes Howe, a long-time teacher, who died Wednesday. She was 85.
A native of Dwight, Illinois, Miss Howe received her English degree from Depaw University and a speech degree from Albion College. She received her masters in speech from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois.
After doing graduate work at University of Wisconsin and Stanford University, she began a 45-year teaching career. She taught English, speech, drama, and creative writing at McHendric College, Lebanon, Ill., Cedar Crest College
in Pennsylvania and California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and Los Gatos High School.
From 1955 until her retirment in 1967, Miss Howe was a teacher at Santa Cruz and Soquel High Schools.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Friday Shakespeare Club, PEO Chapter UK, and the YMCA.
She is survived by her friend, Mary Frances Irelan.
White & Wessendorf Chapel, 138 Walnut Ave, is in charge of arrangements.
Private interment will be in IOOF Cemetery.
Contributions to the First Congregational Church Memorial Fund, c/o First Congregational Church, 900 High St., Santa Cruz, are preferred.

Alan Parker, 70, Dies in Hospital
--
Private services for Alan B. Parker, 70, who died Saturday in a local hospital after a short illness, will be conducted Monday at 3:30 p.m. in White's Chapel, 138 Walnut Ave.
The Rev. Alexander Anderson of Calvary Episcopal Church will officiate, and interment will be in IOOF Cenetery.
Parker was born in Pasadena and taught for 20 years in the Kern County High School District before joining the faculty of Bakersfield College. He attended Oregon State University and received his masters degree at University of
Southern California.
Later he came to Santa Cruz and operated Seven Seas Book Store on Pacific Avenue unitl the flood of 1955, when he moved to Marin County. He returned to Santa Cruz about three months ago.
Survivors include his widow, Margaret of Santa Cruz; a daughter, Margaret Long of El Cerrito; and three grandchildren.
