    Dorothy L. Errington, one of the first women bus drivers for the Santa Cruz City schools, died Monday at home following a lingering illness. She was 65.
    A native of Berkeley, Miss Errington started working for the city schools in 1939 as a part-time employee and in 1943 became a full-time bus driver and storeroom clerk. She drove school buses for 23 years.
    For a number of these years, she drove the special education bus, showing much patience and understanding to the children.
    She also worked in the print shop and in the district warehouse as a clerk and she was employed at Harbor High School in 1971 at her retirement.
    She moved to Santa Cruz in 1922 and was a graduate of Santa Cruz High School.
    Survivors include her brother, Ken MacClain of Sacramento; three sisters, Phyllis Robin of Redwood City, Helen Newhall of Sacramento and Florence Goertzen of Fresno; two cousins, Lloyd Berlin of Santa Cruz and Vernon Berlin of
Santa Cruz, and four other cousins.
    The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday at Westminister Presbytarian Church, 2245 Capitola Rd., at 2 p.m. with Rev. Allen P. Moran officiating and Rev. Melvin Nonhef and Rev. Arthur Reffel assisting.
    Visits may be made to the Wessendorf chapel, 138 Walnut Ave., today til 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 8 a.m. til noon. Burial will take place in Oakwood Memorial Park.
    Contributions are preferred to the [American] Cancer Society or to the building fund of Westminister Presbytarian Church.
