Death Takes Mrs. Moorad

War Reporter's Widow Succumbs

Mrs. Mary Eva Moorad, widow of a radio and newspaper reporter and war correspondent, died Sunday in Providence hospital after an extended illness.
Requiem mass will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of the Madeleine, followed by interment at Mt. Calvary cemetery. Recitation of the rosary will be Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Zeller's Chapel of the Roses.
Mrs. Moorad lived at 2008 N.E. Siskiyou street. She was born June 14, 1903, in Burlington, Kan.
In 1932 she traveled to Shanghai, China, and married George Moorad, then a war correspondent for the Columbia Broadcasting system, a KGW commentator and a writer for The Oregonian. She had met Moorad in Portland, where she had
been employed as a secretary.

Crash Kills Husband

They lived in China until 1937, when they moved to Santa Cruz, Cal., where they resided three or four years before moving to Burlingame, Cal. In 1946 they moved to Portland.
In 1949 Moorad traveled to Indonesia to write a series of articles, and was killed on the return trip when his airplane crashed near Bombay, India.
Mrs. Moorad was a member of the board of Catholic Charities and was a member of the Providence Nursery guild.
She is survived by two sons, Mac and Michael Moorad, both of Portland; two sisters, Miss Rose McCabe, Santa Cruz, Cal., and Miss Julia McCabe, San Diego, Cal., and a granddaughter, Theresa Moorad, Portland.
