Jacob M. McCabe Dies at Rest Home
--
Jacob M. McCabe, 82, former Ben Lomond diaryman and a resident of the Santa Cruz area for more than 35 years, died yesterday at a local rest home where he had been a patient for nearly a year.
Before entering the rest home, McCabe had lived for a short time with his daughter, Miss Rose McCabe, Santa Cruz school teacher, at 617 Laurent St. Previously, he had live on Pacheco Ave.
He was a native of Tennessee.
Surviving besides Miss Rose McCabe is another daughter, Miss Julia McCabe of San Diego; daughter, Mrs. Eva Moorad of Oregon; and a brother, Robert E. McCabe of Vallejo. Mrs. Morrad is the widow of George Moorad, noted
newspaperman and author, and former editor of the Sentinel-News who was among the victims when a plane filled with leading news correspondents crashed in India in July of last year.
Rosary services will be conducted tomorrow night at 8 o'clock at the Berkowitz Mortuary.
Funeral services Saturday moring at 8:45 from the mortuary will be followed by a requiem mass at 9 o'clock at Holy Cross Church.
Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
