Services will be February 20 for Ray O. Robinson, who died Saturday in his Santa Cruz home. He was 81.
Born in Santa Cruz to Walter and Mary Robinson, Mr Robinson was raised at the family diary ranch at the intersection of Bay and Meter Streets.
He was a lifelong Santa Cruz resident.
Mr. Robinson received his bachelor's degree at San Jose State University and a master's degree at UC Berkeley.
He began his teaching career at Mission Hill Junior High School and stayed there for four years, and then taught at Santa Cruz High School for 33 years.
Mr. Robinson was also a licensed contractor and built serveral homes in the area, including his own.
He enjoyed backpacking, river rafting, and traveling. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, and the First Congregational Church.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margaret Hauk Robinson of Santa Cruz; his daughter, Patricia Sturdivant of Ohio; his son, Leland Robinson of Tennessee; his sister, Ruth Simpson of San Jose; four grandchildren; and two
great grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Feb. 20 in the Mission Chapel of Santa Cruz Memorial Park. The Rev. Matthew Broadbent will officiate.
