    Born in Ogden, Utah, Miss Calkins graduated from Occidental College in Los Angeles in 1916. A teacher for 33 years, she came to Santa Cruz High School in 1925 where she was head of the girls' PE Departmen. She retired in 1958.
She was known as the originator of Schagas Day, [the] Snow Folies, and the Leaders Club.
    She was a member of the California Retired Teachers Association, National Retired Teachers Association, and a life member of the California Teachers Association. She was also a member of Rebakah Lodge 195 Gonzales, the Bird
Club, [and] past member of the American Association of University Women.
    She belonged to the Robinson & Winthrop Guild and attended the First Congregational Church.
    She is survived by her cousin, Almon Lee of Mendham, N.J., and many friends.
    There will be a commeration during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at First Congretational Church.
    A tree will be planted in her memory on the church grounds at a later date.
     Cremation was at White Pine Society, San Jose.
    Contributions to First Congregational Church, 900 High St., Santa Cruz, 95060, or Santa Cruz SPCA, 2200 7th Ave., Santa Cruz, 95062, are preferred.
