Ashlee & Jeff had a chance to hike Red Mountain near Manitou Springs. We
were escorted by Steve (ColoradoGuy.com)
and Alyson of Texas. It was a cloudy day, but we made it to the top! Clicking
on the photos for a larger picture may take several seconds to download.

We had hiked about 1/4 mile to a point were we could see
downtown Manitou Springs, we still had a long way to go. |
 |
Here's the location of the old Manitou Incline which was
closed down in the early 1990s. You can see how low the clouds were. |
 |
A sign telling you which way to go. |
 |
There's Steve and Ashlee. The guy jogging in the
background made it all the way to the top and was heading back down
before we made it to the halfway point. |

Alyson looking at the view. |
 |
Rock formations on the way up. |
 |
Ashlee, Alyson & Steve, I believe they were looking for
flowers at the time. |

Ditto... |
 |
The view through the trees. |
 |
We finally made it to the top, here's a house on top of
the mountain next to us. |
 |
Here's a view of Ute Pass, Iles' Terrace can be seen in
the center. |
 |
Ashlee walking at the location of were the old Pavilion
was, people would come up via the Red Mountain Incline and dance up
here! |
 |
Here's a tree hanging off of the top. |
 |
Ashlee coming down the steps of the spot where people
would unload from the Incline railroad. |
 |
Ashlee liked this stump on the way down, she's also
holding the flowers she picked for her mother. |
 |
We also stopped by the location of Iles' Terrace were
Ashlee's ancestors once lived. Here's Ashlee sitting on an old
foundation. I took several stereoview photos here, you can see one of
them below. Get your Stereoscopes out. |
 |
Ashlee in 3D above Iles' Terrace, Manitou Springs is in
the distance. I decided to try my hand at Stereoview photographing, and
I must admit, they came out quite well! |
 |
Ashlee standing on a bridge near the Manitou Springs
bottling plant. She was sad because she left her stuffed dog Domino in
the car. |
 |
Looking over the railing of the bridge, you can see
Fountain Creek. |
 |
Here's Ashlee at the Little Ute Chief Spring. It had
been shut down for a couple of years, but it's flowing again! |
