1784/1785 This William Gregory died in Mecklenburg Co., VA leaving a will naming only daughters, thus no male Gregory descendant for YDNA purposes.  However, this record may help in placing the various William Gregorys.

Per 1764 tax list, William was born bef 1748, possibly the only son of Zener/Ziner/Lena Gregory, apparently widowed by 1763.

Who was her husband?  Was she already living on that tract and had the means to purchase it as a widow?  Why would she have come from some distant county as a widow to live there?  William must have been close in age to other Gregory young adults in the area, such as Joseph (Sr), Andrew, James, Ambrose, etc.  That would place William's father an age of the generation before. Was there a relationship?

The tract Ziner Gregory purchased on Bluestone was in the general vicinity of where Andrew Gregory settled.
