An effort to reason whether Mildredge Gregory-Vaughan was widowed by her Gregory husband in the area of Halifax or Mecklenburg, and remarried to William Vaughan there, or whether she was married to William Vaughan when he came to Buffalo Creek in Mecklenburg. The first record I have found of Milderidge Gregory-Vaughan or her 2 named Gregory sons of record relative to William Vaughan was her relinquishment of dower 1778. Entries in RED mark the introduction of Mildredge and her sons. Other records and ideas welcomed./jgs

| 1778 Might be the approx year that Ambrose Gregory married Sarah/Sally, the dau of William Vaughan, because census show his oldest child Milly (m. Stephen P.Pool) was born 1779. With this, the earliest date, so far, of Ambrose Gregory and his mother Milderidge connected with the Vaughan family was 1778. |

The 100a tract of land Milderidge Vaughan willed to her son Ambrose Gregory remained taxed (land taxes) to Milderidge Vaughan estate until 1804 when it transferred to Ambrose Gregory. (I don't know what would have caused the delay of 13 years?/jgs)
