1755 Victual List for Lunenburg From Winthrop Bell's (Worksheet notes) MG1 - Vol. 113 at PANS shows Meisner: Casper, Anna Elizabeth, Johannes, Casper, Dorothea and Anna Elizabeth.

Source Christopher Young:
Casper, aged 36, a farmer from Stolberg, Germany, sailed to Nova Scotia on the ship Murdock in 1751. Once in Lunenburg he received:
- a town lot in Zuberbuhler's Div. F-10
- a garden lot on the eastern edge of town in 1st Dv. H-7
- a 30 acre farm lot in 1753 in Middle Range A-19, which he must have sold, for in the 1760 registry he held Lot Center A-27
- a 300 acre forest lot in 3rd Div. F-5
In 1784 his son Casper Jr. held 435 acres of land and son, John, held 660 acres.

Meisner is mentioned in DesBrisay's "History of the County of Lunenburg" on pgs. 70, 71, 162, 227, 300, 320, 328, 501, 503.

Caspar Meisner (Johann Daniel, Casper, Thomas) was born at Glauberg, Graftschaft Stolberg-Gedern 13 November 1715 (Kb. Gl.), was baptised at Glauberg, Grafschaft Stolberg-Gedern, and died at Lunenburg, Nova Scotia 5 June, 1792 (Z.L.L.). He married at Glauberg, Grafschaft Stolberg-Gedern 22 Aug., 1733 (Kb. Gl.) Anna Elisabetha Sommer, daughter of Johannes and Anna Catharina (Gebhard) Sommer, who was born at Glauberg, Grafschaft Stolberg-Gedern 28 July 1713 (Kb. Gl.) and died at Lunenburg, Nova Scotia 12 January, 1787 (Z.L.L.)

The Meisner family left Glauberg in 1751. They arrived at Halifax via Rotterdam on teh Murdoch. Casper Meisner was indebted for four and a half freights totalling fl. 338.18.12. At the time of emigration, his family consisted of eight people, two of whom because they were young travelled free. Two of the children apparently died at sea for they are not found in the later records at Halifax or Lunenburg.

The Meisners resided at Halifax for two years after their arrival. They appear on the victualling lists for August-October 1752 and February-April 1753. According to the July 1752 'List of Settlers,' Casper Meisner and his family were living at "the Block House & Isthmus" (the present-day Dutch Village area of Halifax).

In June, 1753 the Meisners were sent to Lunenburg as members of the group which settled that township. The Return of Arms in December, 1753 indicates that Casper Meisner resided in Zouberbuhler's Division of town. In July, 1754, the Return of Divisions confirmed that he owned lot F-10 with a house in Zouberbuhler's Division. In 1753 Casper Meisner drew Middle Range lot A-19 in the lottery for 30-acre farm lots. For the livestock distribution of 1754, Casper Meisner together with George Schultz received six sheep, one sow and one goat. The Meisner family appear on the victually lists for June, 1755, February-May, 1756 and January-May, 1757. In 1756, Casper Meisner participated in expedition to collect abandoned Acadian cattle at Grand Pre. In 1758 Casper was a sergeant in the militia and served on the Indian patrol.

The Registry of Thirty-Acre Farm Lots in 1760 states that Casper Meisner owned Centre Range lot A-17. He probably exchanged his Middle Range lot for the one at Centre shortly after the 1753 land lottery. The Registry of Town Lots in 1762 indicates that he retained ownership of Lot F-10 in Zouberbuhler's Division. In the second drawing for 300-Acre lots on 7 November 1763, Casper drew lot F-5 in the Third Division.

Casper Meisner was a founding member of Zion Lutheran Church in 1770. He contributed labour and money towards the construction of the church in 1770-71. He signed the membership roll in 1775 and appears in the church account book from 1770 to 1785.

Casper Meisner is found on the 1770 census. His household consisted of three people. He owned one horse, two cows, two neat cattle and two swine. In 1769 his farm produced 15 bushels of rye, two bushels of peas, 16 bushels of barley and eight bushels of oats. The total grain production of 39 bushels was more than sufficient to meet the household needs (and was one bushel less than the household average in Lunenburg). (For a discussion of household grain requirements see: Kenneth S. Paulsen, "The Heysors: A 'Foreign Protestant' Family of Lunenburg Township, 1753-1820," in Nova Scotia Historical Review, 15:2 (December 1995):124-147. See in particular page 130 and footnote 20.)

Casper married 1, 2 Anna Elizabetha SOMMER daughter of Joseph Conrad SOMMER and Anna Catharina GEBHARD on 22 Oct 1733 in Glauberg, Grafschaft Stolberg-Gedern. Anna was born 3 on 28 Jul 1713 in Glauberg, Grafschaft Stolberg-Gedern. She died 4 on 12 Jan 1787 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.
