• Assume: That the couple moved to Rochdale 1869-1870 from Ireland via Chester as that is where eldest daughter Sarah Ellen and first Christopher was born but 3rd child was born Rochdale.

• Occupation: Outdoor labourer - Living 2 Pilling Place spotland with wife and eldest daughter, 1871.

• Occupation: Living 1 Paddock Spotland with wife and children, 1881.

• Fact: Has a nephew called Frederick born Ireland living with them in census, 1891.

• Occupation: Mason's labourer living 2 Pilling Place with wife and several children - youngest children born Rochdale, 1891.

James married Susan NIXON on 2 Apr 1866 in Saint Nicholas, Liverpool, Lancashire, England. (Susan NIXON was born in 1841 in Ireland and died between 1901 and 1911 in Assumed. Can't Find Her On 1911 Census And Cannot Find Her Death Record On Http://Www.Lancashirebmd.Org.UK/Cgi/Deathind.Cgi.)

This is also the only James Ferris / Susan marriage on Freebmd and it is a good year and a good place for an Irishman to be.


Very difficult to trace either of these two as Irish records are sparse. Think one or the other had father Christopher / Henry and mother Sarah / Ellen as they called their children these.
