Note:
__ ___ ____ There is a Lucy Platner on 1855 Delhi, Delaware, NY
census with Henry Platner, she age 44, he age 56. This could be
RN 11574 with her lying about her age because her husband is so
much older. Henry 1840 Delhi 1m0-5 1m5-10 1m50-50 2f5-10 1f30-40.
There are Platner's in Otsego Co History but unknown connection
Feb 2000, Cal Ingram said:
I looked into the Henry Platner/Lucy Colony possible my last trip
to the library, but looks as if Henry Platner married Lucinda Nobles
on 27 Jan 1830 in Delaware County, NY. (LDS Microfilm 860,311 Item
1, page 18). Henry and Lucinda (Lucy) had at least 1 daughter married
in Delhi, Delaware County, NY, Sophronia Platner married George
Hughes on 19 Dec 1849. (Item 2, page 27).

Typescript
of unknown document - need to tract down original.
Petition of D.W. Colony of the Town of Delhi, Delaware County, shows
that your petition is entitled to a certain share of the property
which belonged to Abram Beals, late of the Town of Masonville. Alexander
and Huldah discharged their duties, etc. and took into their possession
the value of about $2000.00 of real and personal property; that
the heirs of said Abram Beals were as follows; Linda Colony, Lucinda
Couse, Amanda Beals, Alexander Beals and the children and Huldah
Beals the wife. Petitioner is the son of Linda Colony and is entitled
to his share of the said estate and also to the shares of Leonard
Colony and Lucy Platner by assignment in writing hereto attached.
That Leonard and Lucy are the children of Linda Colony and entitled.
Ordered Alexander Beals (Huldah was dead) to pay amounts due the
petitioner.

1855 & 1865 census.

family group sheet)

Note:
Mary Ann COLONY (1823-1904) is a candidate for being a daughter
of Joseph or a niece. However, she's not listed in DW Colony petition,
so niece is probably more likely. Do further research to find her
parents.
Info
from Calvin Ingram [cingram@inficad.com].
I had another Masonville, Delaware County, New York "Colony"
listed in some written notes that had not been placed in the computer.
Some of the info is from ancestry.com records, and I have not looked
into how accurate the information is.
Mary
(Ann or C) Colony -
Born - December 04, 1823 in Masonville, Delaware County, New York.
Died - June 16, 1904 in Springfield, Bradford County, Pennsylvania
Married to George William Pettingill on January 11, 1845 in Daggett,
Jackson Township, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.
George was born September 13, 1804 in Providence, Providence County,
Rhode Island. He died September 30, 1892 in Springfield, Bradford
County, Pennsylvania
I cannot confirm these exact dates, but find a George W. and Mary
C Pettingell listed in the Leona Cemetery, Jackson Township, Tioga
County, Pennsyvania. The cemetery information only gives the years
these two were born. George looks to be correct listed as 1804-1892.
Mary's middle name is C on this transcription not Ann. She is listed
as 1822-1904. This not uncommon.
I cannot find any Colony's in this Township, but do find the Seely's,
whom my Henry Colony's wife belongs to. The 1840 township census
may show Colony's, but the 1850 Township census does not.
Henry Colony Jr was located nearby, on the Tioga County, (Tioga
Township) Pennsyvania federal census in 1850.
Thought you may want this info, as it fits into Joseph Colony's
timeframe, and may give you locations to look into.
I am
placing your Joseph Colony with the Henry Colony family of mine
(with a note stating that this is not proven out) (Just too many
coincidences)
I am also placing the Knox County, Ohio John Colony (bn Dec 1820
in Delaware County, NY) with your Joseph Colony (with a note stating
this is not proven) (more for my benefit, as I try to find some
ties)
I am placing Mary Ann Colony wife of George Pettingill with your
Joseph Colony. (also stating this is not proven) George was from
Rhode Island and this make me wonder if our elder Henry Colony may
have married a member of this family, after his first wife died.
Here
is some rough theory, but it shapes up well:
1820 - Joseph Colony listed in Masonville, Delaware County, New York census.
2 males age 0-10 (Likely Leonard & John Colony born between 1810-1820)
1 male age 16-26 (This would be Joseph Colony)
1 female age 16-26. (This would be Linda Beals)
1830 - Joseph Colony listed in Masonville, Delaware County, New York census.
1 male age 0-5 (likely D. W. Colony born between 1825-1830)
1 male age 5-10 (likely John Colony, bn Dec 1820 - born 1820-1825)
1 male age 10-15 (likely Leonard Colony bn Feb 1814 - born 1815-1820)
1 male age 30-40 (This would be Joseph Colony)
2 females age 0-5 (likely Lucy Colony born between 1825-1830)
2 females age 5-10 (likely Mary Ann Colony born between 1820-1825)
1 female age 30-40 (This would be Linda Beals)
1830 - Henry Colony listed in Ledyard, Cayuga County, New York census.
1 male age 15-20 (likely Henry Colony born between 1810-1815)
3 males age 10-15 (likely Charles, Elijah, and George born between 1815-1820)
1 male age 50-60 (This would be Henry Colony - born between 1770-1780)
1 female age 20-30 (Unknown at this time 1800-1810)
1 female age 30-40 (This would be first unknown wife, bn NJ).

Ancestral
File - Arthur Lamonte Colony born abt 1805 Peekskill, Westchester,

on this line. Most info from Gen Record of the Mandeville Family
by Weltha Woodward which is on film SLC 00003902.
New
York Counties that Colon(e)y's are in per IGI - Orleans (974.791),
Clinton (974.75), Saratoga (974.748).
Camel
and Cammel families are found in Rensselaer County so check there
for Cordelia background?
IGI
- Catharine Cammel married David Bulson 5 Jan 1845 Cooperstown,
Otsego, NY batch 712770698 source film 538965 - Check source to
see if person submitted (not an extract of something) as Leonard
has daughter Hannah Colony who married a Bulson and Cordelia's name
was Camel. Too much of a coincidence to pass up.
Connelly
Van Valkenbury showed a Charles M Colony born 1809 possibly in Delaware
NY. Marr 1 prior 1840 in Chenango NY. Marr 2 circa 1842 in Bradford
Co PA. He pretty thoroughly searched Bradford County and found nothing
on Leonard. However, Leonard was back and forth to PA so maybe there's
a connection.
Mary
C. Colony of Homer, Cortland, NY does not seem to be connected.
