Balance of information about Walter Samuel is his military and from letters and postcards written while in the military. He was the youngest child of William Frederick and Jennie Elizabeth.

Military: 1911-1912 He was in the Army and I have several letters from the time period he was supposedly chasing Pancho Villa back and forth across the border. I also have his military record which doesn't mention that part. He was enlisted by Capt A.C. Christie, as a private of Company M, 10th Regiment (Infantry), at Columbus Barracks OH on 18 Mar 1911. He had blue eyes, dark brown hair, and was 5' 9.25". On 25 Dec 1911 he was recommended for discharge on account of 1) Epilepsy and 2) Cardiac dilation, chronic - existed prior to enlistment. The paperwork finally was processed and he was honorably discharged 24 Feb 1912. I need to re-look at the letters to see when he was in Mexico as I think it was after this.
