What I know for sure about my family. The earliest recorded record is in 1783 when William McMullen bought a farm on the James River in Botetourt Co, VA. I think he was born about 1740 in VA. He may have been born in Ireland as family tradition says he and wife with 4 children came from Ireland and that 1 child died on the trip.

He sold the farm in April of 1799 and moved to Williamson Co, TN. In about 1810 he moved to Lincoln Co, TN. He died 1815-1817. Don't know exactly when. His will was dated 1815 and probated in 1817. He and his wife are both buried in the Wright Cemetery in Lincoln Co.

William's 6th and final son was Thomas McM - my ancestor. Thomas was born 1785 in VA. He moved with the family to TN and in 1808 he was married there. In the early 1820's he moved to Lawrence Co, AL and late in the 1820's he moved to Gibson Co, TN. On the 1830 census he was a near neighbor to Davy Crockett, On the 1840 census he has moved to Dyer Co, TN. They then moved to Yalobusha Co, MS and are there on the 1850 census. Early in 1853 they moved to Bay St. Louis, MS and Thomas died there in an epedimic of some sort.

Next in my line was Robert Alexander McM born 1823 in AL. He married 1849 in Yalobusha Co, MS. He went with the family to Bay St. Louis. In early 1854 Robert along with brother William their wives and mother moved to Cherokee Co, TX. Also a sister and her family. In 1859 and 1860 the family moved to Angelina Co, TX and have mostly been there ever since until dispersal began after WWII. Robert died 1869 and is buried in Angelina Co.

Next was James Ulman McM born 1853 in Yalobusha Co, MS and moved with the family to Angelina Co, TX. He married 1874, was a farmer and died 1930. Buried Angelina Co.

Next was Thomas Cary McM born 1875 in Angelina Co. He had several businesses during his lifetime. He died 1957 and is buried in Angelina Co.

Thomas Wood McM - my father - was born 1896 in Angelina Co. He was Personnel Mgr for a logging business, ran their commissary and served as Postmaster. He died 1982 and is buried in Angelina Co.
