What is the The Pickens Genealogy Information Group?

It is a collection of folks who have either shared information or have sites that provide information on the PICKENS FAMILY and Allied Families. I imagine you could call it a Web Ring or a information co-operative.

This is not about 'ME' and what 'I' have alone. It's soul purpose is about 'US' and what 'WE' have available to help and supply information to whomever would like it. So it is really about what 'WE' have.

I have a very large library of information Pickens Archive that pertains to the Pickens Family and Allied Families that I would like to be able to share with the family at large and make available to anyone researching either the Pickens Family or Allied Families such as the DAVIS Family, The CALHOUN Family, the NESBIT Family, the Landgrave SMITH and a lot of other families not listed here. The database is available at Pickens Family Archive.

Terry McLean is also working as part of the Pickens Genealogy Information Group. She has a large searchable database of Pickens and Allied Familes as well as her own family lines at Pickens Pipeline available to the anyone that wants to research. She also has links to other sites on her pages as well.

    Mitch Fincher's Pickens is the oldest page on the next concerning the Pickens Family. It's pages has a lot of material concerning his end of the family as well as the Pickens cousins list and other information.
    Barbara Giddens Home pages has a lot of information on the Native Americian family line. Barbara's Home Page contains her genealogy information, Pictures of her ancestors and much more.
    Probably one of the most important links here is the CHRONICLES of the SCOTCH-IRISH SETTLEMENT in VIRGINIA by Lyman Chalkley. It is Extracts from the Court Records of Augusta County 1745 - 1800. This is presented by RootsWeb.Com in it's entire 3 Volumn collection. Any one looking for information on ancestors especially in Virginia should read this material.
    Eleanor "Gyspy" Wyatts pages includes much information on the Native Americian Pickens family, but information on the Slave lines of the family as well. A very interesting site with lots of links Rootsweb.com Borders a lot of information concerning not only the Pickens and Roberts families but Slavery as well. Black Indians Information concerning Native Americians and links that could be useful in researcing the Indians

   Mississippi Connections Bob Davis Exceptional site; Marriages: Many county's Southern Mississippi, edited ie: initials filled in where known, and links to other marriages where known even across county lines. Census Records: 1850-1900 Edited and linkded that contains additonal information not found on the records: ie: head of household's parents, spouse parents, children's spouse & parents, full names where known. Cemetery's: 85 from Greene County, 8 from George, others in works includes additonal information on individuals. Obituary's: Greene County Herald, George County, obits linked to cemetery's that are online.
    Drew Co Akransas Karen Groce's site for Drew County Arkansas. Laffoon surname connection. Named in honor of the third governor of Arkansas, Thomas Drew, Drew County, AR was formed in 1846 from parent counties Arkansas and Bradley. The county seat is at Monticello, AR 71655. Drew County has extant its marriage, probate, divorce, and civil court records.
    Old Pendleton District site maintains one of the most comprehensive data bases on the families of the Old Pendleton District. You may download the database, just follow the instructions and have a lot of room on your hard drive.Herman Geschwind is the curator so to speak.
    South Carolina RootsAn excellent source of information. Especially the Mills Maps, these maps were done between 1820 and 1825 and contain a type of census information that isn't usually available. It gives locations of family homes and businesses. This site is courtsey of Steven J. Coker
    Town of Bristol has a active historian in the person of Helen Fox. It is also a gateway to the Ontario county Historical Society and available records. If any of your relatives are from way upstate NY then this is the place to start.
    Mildred Stinson Brown site. The Pickens line of Butler Co. Alabama. Midlred's page has been extensively researched, and has a lot of reference links.
    The Miller Family is Margaret Miller McDonalds site. That is the Miller family of Mississippi.

    Duncan Rea William's My Obscure Niche In Cyber Space is a little understanded. Nice site and lots of information concerning the his Williams Pickens line
    Gerischer, Couch, Pickens Debbie Gerischer site with tie in to the Couch family, the Pickens Family, and the Gerischer family.
