I don't usually post email requests for information: Not in the Library, but there are several that are important enough that they should be posted.

I am writing to you because I saw your information about Susannah Smith on ancestry.com. The DAR will be installing a chapter in Summerville, SC on Aug. 17th which will be named the Susannah Smith Elliott Chapter and we are searching for members of the family to attend. I know it is short notice, but if you are close...we would love to have you. Please feel free to call me 843-824-8324 (after 4pm). Thanks for any information about her you can give to us and if you are able to attend...we would be so happy.

Stephanie

Subject: Lakeport Plantation Research

John, I am director of Delta Heritage Initiatives at Arkansas State University, and we are restoring the antebellum Lakeport Plantation in Chicot County, Arkansas. I am attempting to track down all living descendants of the Johnson family (who built the plantation), and am particularly interested in trying to locate descendants of Betsy Johnson and David T. Adams.

Their daughter, Linnie Adams, married John C. Calhoun (the one born July 9, 1843), and they had four sons, including David Adams Calhoun. I note in your research posted on Ancestry.com that you list a "Living Calhoun" for David's descendants. Do you know his name, if he is still living, and how I might contact him or any of his descendants?

Or do you know any other living Calhouns or relatives who might have knowledge of the Lakeport, Arkansas ties? Thanks for any help you can provide.
