This photo has written on the back: Herman THOMAS and John CARROL The date taken is probably early 1900 - 1910. From other information - I find a "Herman THOMAS" son of Miles THOMAS and Sarah Emily (NORMAN) THOMAS who were married in 1878. Could this be the same Herman THOMAS? Anyone with information please contact Jimmie Harris

As a professional photographer I seldom submit any photograph that -is Not- in the best possible condition. This will be an exception. Sometimes the emotional empathy of a -Family Photograph- is 'better expressed' -in it's USE! I see evidence that this photo was so well USED - that it has 'food stains, a nail hole (to a wall?), trimmed corners (to fit a frame?) and hand writings on the back from 2 or 3 generations'!! Even some 'Finance Ciphering' ! Who ever wrote the names on the back -put them in Mirror position- (not Left to right) but in exact placement behind the Person on the Front. Any comments? Tell Me About It
Phot submitted by Jimmie Harris
This is a photo of a "brake shoe chain" that has been in my Family for over 100 years. It is said that it came off of one of the wagons that brought my HARRIS Family from Hardin Co. KY to Randolph Co. AR in November of 1869. It was on one of the several wagons that made this trip. The surnames of some of the Families on this Journey were: FRENCH, HARRIS, MILLER, ROOF, SAGO, STOUT, STUMPH, THOMAS, and YEAGER. They arrived on Monday, December 1, 1869, at the "Old YEAGER MILL" on the East bank of a little stream known by the name 'Fourche du Mau' and stayed at the -Old HILL Place- or -KNOTTS Place- owned by Tom FOSTER and later owned by 'Doc DAVIS'.
Mystery is: Does anyone know -HOW- this brake shoe worked and what it would have looked like attached to a horse drawn 1860s wagon?? Any Ideas??? Please contact Jimmie Harris
