Denney, Nancy (b. 20 APR 1773, d. 30 JAN 1858)
Note: William Denney has the month in DOB for husband Levi as January.

They lived in Crooked Creek community of Grayson (now Carroll County) VA.

Her husband Levi was a Quaker and a planter.

They are buried in Crooked Creek Primitive Church Cemetery, Carroll County, VA.

Some data on the Burchams was obtained from Alice Herzberg, her and her mother had researched the Burchams for around 30 years.

Pansy Broughton has a DOB of Jan 12, 1778 for Nancy!

FOLLOWING DATA PROVIDED BY CAROLYN SPENCE

According to the Stoneman family book by Carol Roller, " James & Sarah Stoneman and The Next Four Generations" page 2, James Stoneman also made bequests to his six children: Joshua Stoneman, Elizabeth Cain, Sarah Mooney, Hannah Davis, James Stoneman Jr. and John Stoneman. John was assigned the care of his mother during her widowhood. The eldest son Joshua was named Executor of the estate. It has been written by some that Nancy, wife of Levi Burcham, was the daughter of James & Sarah. Mrs. Levi Burcham was in fact, the daughter of William and Rebecca Hooper Denny. There are reports on the LDS Web Site that shows a daughter Nancy but no marriage for her, there is also another report posted there that shows a Nancy Stoneman that married subject Levi Burcham on May 25, 1794, the same date we have for him marrying Nancy Denny.

A document recorded in Surry County Courthouse in Dobson, NC in 1822 lists Levi Burcham and his wife, Nancy, among the heirs of William Denny. If James and Sarah Stoneman had more than the six children named in his Will of 1813, they died when young and there is no record of their names or their life spans."

This is documented in Surry Co Deed book T ( no longer on the shelf. Must be read on microfilm.) page 202, February 14, 1822.

Denney, Azariah (b. 12 JAN 1788, d. 23 NOV 1878)
Note: PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL DENNEYS IN THIS LINE KEPT THE SPELLING AS "DENNY"

Buried Surry County, NC (Cedar Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery) (Old Denny Cemetery). There is controversy also on the burial spot. The previous description is from William Denney, Pg 11 of Sylvester Denny's book says he was buried on a knoll overlooking the Ararat River, on their farm near the road about 1/2 mile southwest of Cedar Hill Church!

STRANGE FACT: None of his seven daughters ever married!

Much of the pertinent information for Azariah Denny line came from Sylvester Denny's book, "Genealogy of the Family of Azariah Martin Denny".

Tombstone on his grave reflects death date as Oct 11, 1878 which conflicts with other data. Description of Azariah in Sylvester Denny's Book (Pg 11) also gives a third possible date of death as Oct 14, 1878.

A Butch Johnson visited and recorded graves in a cemetery that he calls the Azariah Denny Cemetery. I think he refers to the old Denny Cemetery, thus in the future, all references to either of these will mean the same cemetery.

It is believed that Azariah donated the land to build the Ceder Hill Baptist Church as the land was once his.
LAND ACQUISITION
Azariah purchased land from Timothy Coe in 1816, added a grant of 23 acres adjoining his other property from the state of North Carolina in 1826, two deeds in 1822 covering 175 acres of land from his widowed mother, Rebecca Denny, and his four sisters and his brother Lazarus. Also, there were deeds in 1832 for 118 acres from Josiah Van Du Pool and in 1835 for 50 acres from Nathan Harris.

WIFE ELIZABETH
AKA "BETSY"

Elizabeth was the daughter of Enoch Stone who was the son of John Stone who in turn was a descendant of William Stone, the 3rd Governor of Maryland.

Buried Surry County, NC (Denny Cemetery).

ADDITIONAL DATA ON CHILDREN

Per "Stones of Surry County", there were nine children of Azariah Denny & Elizabeth Stone, per other ancestrial files, there were eleven children

William never married, he was big & fat and known as "Uncle Billy" to his Kin. If this is the William buried in Old Denny Graveyard, death date may have been 1891?

Nancy never married, lived Surry County, NC. Buried Denny Cemetery, Surry County, NC.

Martha never married, lived Surry County, NC.

Sally lived Surry County, NC, never married, buried Old Denny Graveyard.

Polly never married, lived Surry County, NC, buried Old Denny Graveyard.

Elizabeth buried Old Denny Graveyard, never married, lived Surry County, NC.

Rebecca died in Infancy-buried Old Denny Graveyard. She was not mentioned as a child in this family by Joel Denny in his Samuel Denny descendant letter.

Patsy: Sylvester Denny unsure whether there was a Patsy Denny in this line since it was not mentioned in Joel's letter, however, there is a Patsy with these dates mentioned as being buried in the Old Denny Graveyard. Her brother William did mention a sister Patsy in his will.

Old Denny Cemetery, Denny Cemetery and Azariah Denny Cemetery are all the same. Located on Power Dam Road (SR 2044), Pilot Mountain, Surry County, NC.

Denney, Lazarus (b. 14 NOV 1777, d. 4 APR 1856)
Note: Lazarus is buried at West Elkton, Preble County, Ohio with his wife.

Lazarus and most of his children moved to Preble County, Ohio around 1817/1818. Per Joel Denny's letter, it was around 1825. They may have made a brief stop in Wayne County, IN for a few months before moving on to Ohio.

Much of the data on Lazarus and wife Susannah was established by tracking them through Elk and Quaker records in VA, NC, IN and Ohio.

The data on Lazarus and his line was provided by William Denney of Vancouver, WA. This data on Lazarus may conflict with that from other sources ( wrong dates have shown up in LDS records and other Family Histories appearing on the computer internet). I will stick to that data provided by William as Lazarus was William's 3rd great-grandfather and William has done extensive research to insure details are as near correct as possible and he quotes sources for every bit of information.

His DOB was taken from "Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy--Vol. V" by William Wade Hinshaw, 1946. It was calculated from his age given at the time of death so it may be off a day or two. The 1840 census for Preble County, Ohio supports his age as being 60-70 at that time. The 1850 Preble County, Ohio census has his age as 71 which would yield a birth year of 1778. World Family Tree CD# 6, Tree# 2888 reflects his DOB as November 25, 1777 and the date of marriage to Mary Ballard as January 6, 1827.

The 1850 Preble County Ohio census finds the family as Lazarus age 71, wife Mary age 58, Jonathon age 19, Martha Ekes age 12 and Israel Ballard age 36 born Ohio, listed as a laborer. Israel was Mary's son from her first marriage with David Ballard.

It is possible that Lazarus moved from Grayson County, VA to Surry County, NC in 1812 in anger over a dispute with the local government over building a fence across a public road. There was several articles recorded on this in the court and shortly after he showed up in Surry County, NC.

Lazarus' 2nd wife Mary's last name may be "OZBUN" or "OSBORNE" . Per William Denney, it was spelled "OZBUN" in the "Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy--Vol. V" but should be "OSBORNE". Future researchers may encounter her name as MARY OZBUN BALLARD, the BALLARD being from a previous marriage.

Preble records Shubal Denney married Margaret Mendenhall 4-8-1830

ADDITIONAL DATA ON CHILDREN

Sons William, Jordan, and Reubin went to Preble County, Ohio about 1817-1818.

Shubal's 2nd marriage was to a Dorthia H. The "H" may have been for "HUFF" which may have been her married name from a previous marriage as she was widow Dorthia Huff when he married her.

The WFT CD 6, Tree 2888 as submitted by Guy Griffin has the death date for Rebecca as October 8, 1837, she was married on Oct 21, 1844, therefore one of these pieces of data is in error.

There was a large connection of Lazarus' kin to the Jenkins family, his son Shubal married Dorthia Jenkins and his grandson Joel married Mary and Sarah Jenkins, all daughters of William Jenkins.

Denney, Martha "MARTHY" (b. ABT 1775, d. UNKNOWN)
Note: Much of the Holt family data came from William Denney of Vancouver, Washington. He in turn was assisted by data from a Charles Holt and a Mary Ash.

The DOB for her husband Nathan is based upon the 1830 census. They were living in Union Township, Scioto County, Ohio during this census, shown as 2 males age 5-9, 1 male age 60-69 (Nathan), 1 female age 5-9, 1 female age 60-69 (Martha). It would be interesting to find out if the young children were grandchildren or if Nathan and Martha were still having children.

They were living in Scioto County, Ohio during the years 1830-1840.

Her husband's father William Holt died at an early age and his uncle John Holt cared for Nathan after the death. Nathan was living in Surry County, NC during the 1800 and 1810 census. It appears that Nathan moved and was living in Floyd County, KY during the 1820 census.

Per William Denney, a letter from Charles Holt reflects that after Nathan's father's (William Holt) death, William's brother John became a surrogate father to the two Holt boys who were still in their teens. They moved on to Western NC (Surry and Stokes Counties) before moving to KY and VA (near Cabell County, VA; now WV) about 1820. Nathan and Newton, along with the older John Holt, moved into Southern Ohio about 1825 and settled in Scioto and Pike Counties with an entire clan of Holts.

Burcham, Levi (b. 1 FEB 1774, d. 25 APR 1854)
Note: From GenCircles report by Annette Hignight

Annette presented here a very thorough report on the Burchams, much of my data on Levi Burcham was gleened from her report.
There is the issue of whether Levi married Nancy Stoneman or Nancy Denney. If it is ever proved that she was actually Nancy Stoneman & not a Denney descendant, then this whole line of Levi Burcham will have to be removed from the Denney descendant reports.

As a note, per the book "James Stoneman (Carroll)1765-1815: The Settlements, By John Perry Alderman; Published by Alderman Books, 1985, p. 222., the author was not even sure which Nancy married Levi as where he is listing children, he states "It would seem that Nancy Stoneman Burcham (1773-1857), wife of Levi Burcham, was another, but she was not named in the will." These notes on the book are from GenCircles report by Annette Hignight

Some GenCircles reports have his middle name as HENRY and that he had two other wiives, Honora Wyatt & Lucinda Fowler

Carroll 1765-1815: The Settlements, By John Perry Alderman; Published by Alderman Books, 1985, p. 211-212

Levi Burcham

The Burchams were an old Quaker family which came from New Jersey, through Virginia into North Carolina. John Burcham the elder is thought to have been born in 1740 to Joseph and Rebecca (Borden) Burcham and to have married Roseanna Swearingen a little before 1760. He did not live in Carroll, so far as the records show, but he did buy a tract of land on Crooked Creek (140 acres) from William Bradley in 1797 (Grayson D. B. 1- 63). Part of this he deeded tohis son Levi in 1801 and the rest he willed to his son John Burcham Jr. (Grayson, D. B. 1-393); Surry County, N. C., Wills).
Levi Burcham was the fifth child and second son of old John and Roseanna and is thought to have been born in 1774. Everyone agrees that his wife was Nancy Stoneman (1773- 1857), and all the researchers suspect that she was the eldest daughter of the elder James Stoneman, but no one has found the record to prove either proposition.
Levi came to Crooked Creek about the timehis father bought the Bradley land; he appears on the Grayson tax list for 1798. His brother John sold Levi the rest of the tract in 1817 (Grayson, D. B. 3-536). The brother John also owned a tract of 180 acres on Little Reed which he sold in 1821 to Phillip Beamer; by that time the brother John had moved to Green County, Indiana (Grayson, D. B. 4-441).
Levi and Nancy raised a family of nine children, most of them born after they came to Crooked Creed: (1) Mary Burcham, born in 1794, who never married. (2) Sarah Burcham, born 1797, died in 1854, was Dr. Joshua Stoneman’s second wife. (3) Burden Burcham, born about 1801, died in 1863, married Eleanor Edwards. (4) Kesiah Edwards, born in 1803, whose husband was probably Abner Vaughan. (5) Reuben Burcham, born in 1805, married Nancy Wheeler in 1823 and went to Illinois. (6) Allen Burcham, born in 1807, married Fanny Spence in 1823. (7) Anna Burcham, born in 1809, who married Amos Amburn in 1832. (8) Rebecca Burcham, born in 1812, married Charles J. Wheeler in 1837. (9) John Burcham, born in 1818, died in 1892, married Mahala Smith in 1837.
In his younger days Levi was surveyor of the road (Grayson, Orders 1806-1811), but he took little part in county affairs. He died, according to his monument, in 1854.
His heirs made an agreement May 6, 1854 to divide his property in accordance with Levi’s wishes, expressed by him to his wife “while he was in his proper mind some time before his death.” The widow together with the spinster Polly kept the home tract for their lifetimes. The personalty was to be divided among Sarah, Kesiah, Ann and Rebecca, with the sons Burden and John dividing the carpenter and smith tools. The land was to be divided between Burden, Reuben and John. The seven children who shared in the division signed the agreement (Carroll, D. B. 5-12). Allen Burcham did not sign, nor did the older sister Mary. Levi and Nancy together with many of their descendants are buried in the Crooked Creek Cemetery, adjacent to the old Crooked Creek Church.

616 Levi Burcham 73 m Farmer
Nancy 74 f
Polly 56 f
1850 Annotated Census: Carroll County, Virginia. Compiled by John P. Alderman
Levi (1774-1854) was the son of John and Rosanna (Swearingen) Burcham. His father came here, bought a farm on Crooked Creek, and then returned to Surry Col, N. C. Nancy (1775-1857) was a Stoneman, almost certainly the daughter of James and Sarah, the Stoneman settlers. There were nine children of which Polly, shown here, was the eldest. The county family descends from Levi’s two sons who remained here.

Denney, Achilles Martin (b. 19 APR 1847, d. 4 DEC 1920)
Note: This is the A.M. Denny that Joel Denny wrote the letter to on "History of the Dennys" in the late 1800's.

His mail got confused/mixed up with mail for Azariah Martin Denny, so Azariah started to use A.Z.M. Denny to eliminate the confusion.

His wife Eunice, her first name be ELOISE.

He died of prostrate cancer

He is buried at the Ararat-Cedar Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Surry County, NC. One of his wives, Sarah is also buried there.

He was a farmer

ADDITIONAL DATA ON CHILDREN

Denney, Sarah "SALLY" (b. 1786, d. MAR 1858)
Note: Sarah's husband AKA "KILLIS" , Sarah AKA "SALLY".

Kenneth Key gives Achillis' DOB as Dec 18, 1786 and his DOD as Feb 16, 1834

Sarah and Achillis Key appeared in the 1810 Surry County census. His age was shown as between 16-26 and her age as between 16-26. They would have been 24 years of age then

Achillis was recorded in the 1812 Surry County, NC Tax Lists with 50 acres of land.

During the 1820 Surry County, NC census, they appeared as one male and one female between 26-45, 2 males between 0-10 (Lewis & William) and 3 females between 0-10 (Lucinda, Matilda, and Permelia).

During the 1830 Surry County, NC census, the family was shown as one male and female 40-50, one male 0-5, one male 5-10, one male 10-15, two females 5-10, one female 10-15 and two females 15-20.

The 1840 Surry County, NC census finds Sarah as the head of household, one male 10-15, two females 15-20, one female 20-30, one female 50-60 and eight slaves.

As another example as to why genealogists pull their hair out, Achillis' name appeared as follows: Achillas, Archelis (marriage bond), Achillis (1810 census), Akillis (1819 Court Record), Archelles (1820), and Achilles (1830 census), Killis on 1812 Tax Record, signed as Killas x (his mark) Key on his will.

Much of the history and KEY/DENNEY connections in this line were furnished to me by Kenneth N. Key of Gardendale, Alabama in 1998. His reports were outstanding and contributed a wealth of data to my records, my thanks go out to Kenneth and all those who contribute to my work. Some sources that he quotes for his data were: "Key is my Name" by Irene Key Padgett; 1860 & 1870 Census Reports; his family records and recollections; T.D. Boaz, Jr Records; Paula Key Stanley; Paul D. Key; and "The Heritage of Surry County, NC, Vol 1-1983".

Other researchers that are interested in the Key families may want to look at Broderbund World Family Trees CD #11, Tree #2190 submitted by Kenneth Neil Key and CD #5, Tree #1947 submitted by Gene C. Key.

ACHILLIS (ARCHILIS) KEY FAMILY PAGE 392-397

Another contributor to my Achillis Key/Sarah Denny line is Daniel Jenkins. Daniel's wife descends from Achillis and Sarah, he provided me with a very elaborate report on them which was thorough and had many stories/extra facts about the people. My thanks to Daniel and his wife for their interest in family history and for being willing to share with others for future generations.

This per Daniel Jenkins: On March 26, 1858, a special meeting was held in the Surry County Court Clerks Office with the three acting Justices of Peace: H. M. Waugh, D. M. Cooper, and James D. Snow. The Court records state that the purpose of the meeting: Sally Key has died intestate (without a will) since the last term of court which was Feb 1858. Her estate was in such a condition as to liable to waste before regular letters of administration could be had. Therefore, special letters of administration were granted to Augustin Key. He was bonded $1500 and ordered to advertise and sell the following: Wheat, Corn, Oats, 1 Bay Mare, 5 Head of Cattle, 4 Head of Sheep, 7 Head of Hogs, one set of Blacksmith Tools, 1 Yoke of Oxen & Cart, Farming Tools, and Household & Kitchen Furniture. Also, what money that may be on hand, and several due notes amounting up to $275. On April 15, 1858, about 169 items of property of Sarah Key, deceased, were sold. The total including some individual debts against the estate of $1345.48

Sarah (Sally)1 Denny; born 1786; married Achillis Key, son of Martin Rice Key and Rebecca Hogg, 7 Dec 1809 at Surry Co., NC; died Mar 1858 at Surry Co., NC; On 26 Mar 1858, a special meeting was held in the county court clerks office with the three acting Justices of Peace: H.M. Waugh, D.M. Cooper and James D. Snow. The Court record states that the purpose of the meeting: Sally Key has died intestate (without a will) since the last term of court which was Feb 1858. Also what money that may be on hand, and several due notes amounting up to $275 (Surry Co. Court records).
On 15 Apr 1858, about 169 items of property of Sarah Key, deceased, were sold. The total including some individual debts against the estate of $1,345.48.
She and Achillis Key appeared on the census of 1810 at Surry Co., NC; His age is between 16-26, her age 16-26. They were living in Surry County in 1812 when the tax list came out. They had 50 acres, and he was listed as a farmer. She and Achillis Key appeared on the census of 1820 at Surry Co., NC; listed: 2 males between 0-10; 3 females between 0-10; one male and female between 26-45. She and Achillis Key appeared on the census of 1830 at Surry Co., NC; listed: one male between 0-5, one male between 5-10, and one between 10-15; two between 5-10, one between 10-15, and two between 15-20, one male & female 40-50. 13 Jul 1837, Sarah was taken to court by William Harris and he was awarded $72.80 for damages of which $70.00 was principle (Surry Co. Court of Pleas). On 13 Dec 1839, James McKinny payed her one hundred dollars in the estate of Killis Key, deceased (Estate records of NC State Archives). She appeared on the census of 1840 at Surry Co., NC; listed as head of household with one male between 10-15, two female between 15-20; and one female between 20-30; one female between 50-60, and 8 slaves.
Achillis Key also went by the name of Killis His name was spelled many different ways: Achillas (Lane), Archelis (marriage bond), Achillis (1810 Census), Akillis (1819 Court record), Archelles (1820), and Achilles (1830 Census). On the 1812 tax record and his estate records it was spelled Killis. His will was signed Killas x (his Mary) Key. He was born on 30 Sep 1785 at Amherst Co., VA. In 1812, Killis appeared on the Surry Co. tax lists with 50 acres of taxable land. 10 May 1819, he was empaneled to serve on the Grand Jury for Surry Co. On 15 May 1822, Killis was again empaneled to serve on the Grand Jury for Surry Co. Then he served on the Surry Co. jury for the May term of 1823. On 12 May 1824, an entry in Surry Co. Deed book S recorded that Richard Beason sold to Achillis Key a negro woman named Noney and her month old boy for the sum of $360 (page 275). In June 1824, Richard Beason sold unto Achillis a negro girl, Sall, about three years old for the sum of $125 (page 276). During the May term of court in 1825, Richard Beason went into court and acknowledge the Bills of Sale and it was so registered. Killis served again on the jury on May 15, 1827. He left a will in Apr 1834 at Surry Co., NC; In the name of God Amen, I Killas Key being of sound mind and in my right senses commend my soul to God, and my body to be decently buried; This being my last will and testament; after paying all my just debts and funeral charges. I will and bequeath unto my loving wife Sally Key all my worldly stuff during her natural life of widowhood and at her death or marriage of her my property is to be equally divided amongst all my children to wit: Lucinda, Lewis, Matilda, Permelas, William, Mahaly, Emyly, Augustine, this is my will this 4 of month 1834. I leave my wife Sally Key and James McKinny Executors of my will and Lewis Key.
Surry Co. Will Book 4 p 67 1793-1868

A month later on 13 May 1834, the will of Killis Key was proven in Surry Co. Court. He died in Apr 1834 at Surry Co., NC, at age 48.

Key, Jasper Davis (b. 7 MAY 1879, d. 10 DEC 1946)
Note: Jasper was not happy living in Pilot Mountain, as a young man he moved to Ararat, NC and worked for his uncle, William J. Key, in his general store for a couple of years. He then returned to the family home in the Eldora community (part of the original farm of his grandfather, William Key) to farm. He lived with the Coleman Badgett family, who tended the farm at that time. On August 2, 1902, lightning struck the house in which Jasper along with Coleman and his family lived, while everyone was sleeping. Coleman was killed, but a baby (Hoyt) lying beside him was not even awakened. Jasper remained on the farm through 1903, farming with his first cousin, Jake Badgett. After he married Cora, he purchased his father's farm, approximately 100 acres, and began farming on his own.

Denney, Ellen Elizabeth (b. 20 MAR 1845, d. 29 NOV 1884)
Note: Her sister Mary married her husband's brother, Augustine Key.

Ellen and husband Lewis were cousins.

Her husband Lewis entered the Confederate Army in 1861 and served as a Private during the Civil War with the Co. H, 21 Reg., NC.

Her husband Lewis had an additional 6 children with his second wife, they would all be kin to Ellen's children, which again will cause havoc with any computer reports on this family as his second wife Martha was a sister to the wife of his oldest son!

Lewis is buried at the family cemetery near the Union Primitive Baptist Church, Dobson, NC.

Kenneth Key has Ellen with a middle name of ELIZABETH instead of Elender per William Denney. I have changed it to ELIZABETH.

ADDITIONAL DATA ON CHILDREN

Joseph and Samuel may have moved to Oregon per Sylvester Denney.

Squire moved to Lee County, NC.

Denney, Mary Frances "MADGE" (b. 15 MAR 1843, d. 9 FEB 1898)
Note: Her husband's brother Lewis Jones Key married her sister Ellen.

Much of the info on this family (Mary (Denny) Key) was furnished to Sylvester Denny by her granddaughter, Mrs. Mable (Evans) Turner. There is some misinformation as Sylvester Denny states that Mary R. died at birth with her mother Mary F. Denny. Mary R. Denny DOB 2/9/1888 & died same day, Mary F. had another child Sally born 1897, so could not have died at childbirth unless that DOB and her death date not correct.

Additional data on the Keys with respect to their kinship to us Denneys was obtained from WFT CD 6, Tree 1136 as submitted by Thomas Merritt of Jacksonville, Florida. Also, William Denney has contributed a considerable amount of data on this line, much of his data was obtained from the book "Key is My Name" by Irene Frances Key Padgett. This book would contain many more descendants of Samuel Denny I am sure, William only lists the family of the female Denney, therefore all Key descendants after her children would also be descendants we could add. Another possible source for more material may the book "Heritage of Surry County" Vol. 1, Key Section. Future project for myself or someone else.

Husband Augustine AKA "GUS". He is buried at the Denny Cemetery, Pilot Mountain, NC.

Her husband Augustine served as a Private with the Co. C, 21 Reg., NC during the Civil War. Augustine enlisted in the CSA October 8, 1863 and was AWOL after September, 1864. He was evidently one of William's sons that Kenneth Key talked about as going AWOL.

Her DOB may have been March 5th rather then March 15th. Also, Kenneth Key gives a death date of Nov 23 instead of the 28th!

Per Ned Lankford, Mary may be buried at the Venable Cemetery, Pilot Mountain, NC.

Burial at the Denny, John Denny, or Denny-Venable Cemetery

Location: corner of Barney Venable and Whitaker Chapel Rds, Pilot Mtn., Surry Co., NC.

Coordinates: 36d 22m 32.1s N; 80d 29m 27.3s W Click here for Google maps

Directions: From intersection of US Hwy 52 and NC Hwy 268 W, go west on NC Hwy 268 and take the 1st right on Barney Venable Rd. The cemetery is just a short distance on the left at Whitaker Chapel Rd.

ADDITIONAL DATA ON CHILDREN

Laura buried Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Surry County, NC. It is not known if she is related to her husband Jason Key, Jason may be son of Russell Key!! Per Sylvester Denney, they had no children. Her husband Jason Key supposedly married 5 times but never had any children.

Nannie never Married. She is buried at the Denny Cemetery, Pilot Mountain, NC.

Mary was a twin to Lillie and died at birth .
