Hodges, Timothy Key "TIMMY" (b. 4 MAR 1986, d. 20 JUN 2003)

DOBSON - Mr. Timothy "Timmy" Key Hodges, 17, of 122 Beach Boys Lane passed away Friday, June 20, 2003, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Mr. Hodges was born March 4, 1986, in Forsyth County to Gary Walter and Teresa Smith Hodges. He was a rising senior at Surry Central High School, where he was a member of the band. He was also a member of Siloam Baptist Church. Survivors include his parents, Gary Walter and Teresa Smith Hodges of the home; two brothers, Kenny Hodges and Coley Hodges, both
of the home; and his maternal grandparents, Billy and Peggy Key Smith of Dobson. Mr. Hodges was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Coley and Dixie Whitt Hodges. The funeral service will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday, June 22, 2003, at Siloam Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Bill Faw, with burial in the Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Youth Fund of Siloam Baptist Church, P.O. Box 25, Siloam, NC 27047.

Teen dies in one-car wreck Friday on Siloam Road

LEVEL CROSS -- Seventeen-year-old Timothy Key Hodges of Beach Boys Lane, Dobson, died instantly went his car struck a tree Friday morning.

Hodges was traveling south on Siloam Road near Pratt Road at 10:30 A.M. went he apparently looked down at something in the car, ran off the right side of the road, lost control and then slammed into a maple tree, according to N.C. Highway Patrol Trooper Willie Wilburn. Hodges' Kia Sportage came to a rest in front of a home at 3466 Siloam Road.

Members from Pilot Mountain, Dobson and Mount Airy rescue squads worked for more than an hour to free Hodges' body from the vehicle. The Jaws of Life and other heavy equipment, including a wrecker, was needed to remove Hodges from the wreckage.

The South Surry Volunteer Fire Department also responded to prevent any fire, because the Kia's fuel tank was leaking.

Hodges was seen just moments before the accident by a witness who told troopers at the scene that he was not speeding. Hodges was wearing his seat belt and the airbags deployed, Wilburn said.

Hodges was a rising senior at Surry Central High School.
