Note: Her husband Herbert was from Ararat, VA. He was a Sgt. in the service during WW II and he died in the war.
When Clara and Herbert decided to marry, he only had three days to report to camp which was not enough time to accomplish this in NC. They went to SC to marry so it could be done before him reporting to camp.
She was last known residing at Westminister, MD as Mrs. Clara Brown in 2002

Note: Claude died at Wala Wala, WA and is buried at the Weston Cemetery, Weston, WA.
Claude's wife's sister Florence married Claude's brother Walter.
Claude did not progress beyond grade school, this did not hamper him from becoming a very successful farmer and rancher. He invented farming and food processing equipment and helped found a pea cannery and equipment manufacturing plant.
He located on the North Fork of Walla Walla River above Milton-Freewater. He leased and purchased land in the foothills of the Blue Mountains and produced wheat and English peas. In the mid 1940's, he and younger brother, Lloyd, their dad Sam, and the other stock holders built the Umatilla Cannery. As Claude invented and patented equipment needed for the food processing , they branched out into the Key Equipment Company. Their machines were sold through-out the US and in 24 foreign countries going to more than 500 companies.

Note: In the early 1920's, Clark and brother Ernest, combined their resources to make a down payment on 640 acres of land located on Dry Creek, two miles from Umapine. This property was originally owned by their grandparents, Richard and Rose Badget. After purchasing the property, they then divided the land between themselves. He raised similar crops as his brother. In the first years, he fell from a haystack and broke both arms. His right arm remained crooked in a right angle at the elbow for the remainder of his life.
In the depression of 1929, the bank acquired a band of sheep during the foreclosure on a mortgage. First National made a contract with Clark. Thus, in addition to producing crops, he became the owner of 2000 sheep in the early 1930's. These were herded and the wool sold to Portland. In the late 1940's, Clark sold the sheep and went into the turkey business. On the Umapine Ranch, he raised as many as 12,000 a year for years. In the early 1950's he acquired desert land in Humbolt County, Nevada. His daughter June and a brother-in-law, Clyde Franklin lived in Nevada at the time. He drilled deep wells and cleared the desert land of head high sagebrush getting it ready for production. In the early 1960's he sold this land. He also sold 360 acres in Umapine to his brother Ernest. He purchased two sections (1280 acres) of desert land in Morrow and Umatilla County near Hermiston. He later sold the section of Umatilla land.
