Jeanette Burge Jobe, age 88, died in her Durham home Thursday morning, November 2. She was born in Surry County on April 1, 1918 to the late Tom and Ella Denny Burge.
Jeanette was a true lady and Christian in every way. She was a great server for her Lord and Savior, an inspiration for her family and friends. Her inner strength was quite amazing. She battled both ALS and cancer with courage and dignity.
Jeanette was raised in Sanford, graduated from Beauty College in Raleigh and operated Jeanette?s Beauty Shop for a number of years. She was a member of Kings Daughters and Sons and served many years with Durham Regional Hospital Auxiliary. Jeanette was a charter member of Park View Baptist Church and the Ann Judson Sunday School Class. She was generous with her time by serving as WMU director, choir member, Sunday school teacher and Circle chair person.
Jeanette is survived by her two sons, H. Crawford Jobe and wife, Kathy, of Raleigh, NC; Bob Jobe and wife, Linda, of Durham; her sister, Nina Grogan of Burke, VA; six grandchildren, Lauren Bowen, Crawford Jobe III, Mike Jobe, Kim Jobe, Joanna Jobe and Brian Jobe; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer C. Jobe; her brother, Clyde Burge and her sister, Glenola Williams.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, November 6, from Park View Baptist Church with Reverend Al Sholar and Reverend Phil Oakley presiding. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
Friends may visit Sunday afternoon from 2:00-4:00 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Howard Adcock, Bob Carter, Brian Jobe, Bill Carter, Mike Jobe and Crawford Jobe III.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Jeanette Jobe Memorial Fund, c/o Park View Baptist Church, 2500 Acadia St., Durham, NC 27704.
