Holt, Joseph Sanders "SANDY" (b. 9 APR 1946, d. 25 JUN 2008)

Note: PILOT MOUNTAIN - Mr. Joseph Sanders "Sandy" Holt Jr., 62, of Pilot Mountain passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at his home. He was born in Surry County on April 9, 1946, to the late Joseph Sanders and Nettie Johnson Holt Sr. He worked and retired from AT&T and was of the Baptist faith. Preceding him in death were his parents. He is survived by his wife, Sue Simmons Holt of the home; a son, Joseph Sanders Holt III, and fiancee Amanda Jones of Pilot Mountain; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Craig Pusey of West Union, S.C., and Marianne and Eddie Collins of Pinnacle; three grandchildren, Ben Pusey and Amber and April Collins; and three sisters, Thelma Caudle, Glennie (Tom) Gallimore and Betty Sue Jones. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. today, June 27, at Pinnacle View Baptist Church Cemetery, with Brother Don Collins officiating. In addition to floral tributes, memorials may be made to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 443 Mount Airy, NC 27030. Cox-Needham Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain is assisting the Holt family.

As per above obit, he may have married a second time to Sue Simmons. Sue Lynn Simmons was born Nov 20, 1948, in Surry County according to the birth index I have in my possession. She was the daughter of Roy Eugene Simmons and Nealy Alma Ingram. Her birth record is located in Book 34 Page 890; information reported Dec 1, 1948. I can’t find any marriage info at this time. I don’t think she was married in Surry County. (From James Wright)
