Note:
The arms of the Church of Sweden was adopted as late as in 1977. However, it does go back to a shield cut in stone on the Cathedral of Uppsala in the 14th Century; if this was meant to be a symbol for the Church is not known. The arms look like the arms of the Archdiocese of Upsala, but with tinctures interchanged and addition of a crown.
