large bollard

A view down 52nd Street towards New York Harbor from a tenement half way up the street from Fifth Avenue, Brooklyn in July 1944. Using the index below the photo, select overlays pinpointing places of interest, some with comments.
You may select "Start", and sequence automatically through the subjects, selecting "Stop" at any point. The photo is Official U.S. Navy, the recent photos are by Gene Sirota.

This is a rare find, finding one's own particular street...but in this case, only because of what stood at the foot of the street - the Naval Armed Guard Armory.
