Since the time of its creation, the maintenance and upkeep of Mt. View Cemetery has been handled by members of the community in Coleman and the surrounding area. In April of 2005, after some controversy regarding the sale of the cemetery and the property adjacent to it, a group of individuals interested in Mt. View Cemetery met together and agreed to create a formal cemetery association. Three people were elected as Trustees to accomplish this mission: Lois Turner McCarty, Joe Faries, and Gussie Jennings. Also elected were Janis Templeton Trayler as President and Faye Faries as Secretary-Treasurer. A general organizational meeting was held on Saturday, September 10, 2005, with approximately 25 members present. At that meeting, the Articles of Association and Bylaws were adopted by the membership. The Board of Directors was expanded to five members. Two additional directors and a vice president were elected. The officers and directors are named below with the directors respective terms of office designated. The membership also approved the third Saturday of April as the annual meeting date. Meetings will be held at the cemetery unless it rains, in which case the meeting will be held at the Coleman County State Bank Club Room.
