Zaman Grotto Units

The Grotto Volunteer Unit meets the First Wednesday of each Month, unless otherwise called by order of the Unit President. We have a meal (sometimes, a Unit member will provide the meal; sometimes, it is potluck) at 7:00 pm, followed by our Stated Meeting at 8:00pm. The main purpose and function of the Volunteer Unit is to raise funds for our charities by fish cookings, either at the Grotto or in the greater Memphis area. In a typical year, the Volunteer Unit donates almost $10,000.00 to the United Cerebral Palsy equipment for handicapped children fund, enabling dozens of children to acquire the means of living a better life. Every year, we donate several thousand dollars to this worthy cause. We also make many other charitable donations.

The Past Monarchs Unit meets on the 4th Wednesday of each month, usually at Zaman Grotto at 7:00pm. They share a meal with those in attendance for Grotto Family Night, then adjourn to a separate room or space to hold their meeting. This Unit acts as an ad-hoc advisory board for Zaman Grotto, presenting the Grotto with suggestions for improvements to operations, Bylaws, and other matters.

       Other Units may be forming -- contact the Prophet Monarch, Al Hansen, if you are interested in helping to start up a new (or revive an old) unit.

We are also very fortunate to have a very active Zaman Grotto Ladies Auxillary. While technically not a "unit" of the Grotto, the Ladies Auxillary is a vital part of the heart and soul of our operation and they add greatly to the experience of being involved with Zaman Grotto.
