Grounds open all year.
Visitor centre open Easter to October, daily, 11.00am to 4.30pm.
November to March, weekends only, 11.00am to 4.00pm.
Closed Easter, 25th December and 1st January.
The visitor centre is fully accessible, but access to the site for wheelchair users is limited to the Bailey and the perimeter path.
A new access bridge and steps allow visitors to reach the top of the motte, with superb views over the Calder Valley.

Excavated medieval castle overlooking the site of the Battle of Wakefield in 1460 and scene of Civil War siege. Beautiful views of Calder Valley and nearby Country Park.
Visitor centre with displays and models.
